Review: Perfect (Flawed #2) by Cecelia Ahern

Perfect by Cecelia Ahern

(A huge thanks to HarperCollins UK for sending me a hardcover copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.)

Celestine North lives in a society that demands perfection. After she was branded Flawed by a morality court, Celestine's life has completely fractured – all her freedoms gone.

Since Judge Crevan has declared her the number one threat to the public, she has been a ghost, on the run with the complicated, powerfully attractive Carrick, the only person she can trust. But Celestine has a secret – one that could bring the entire Flawed system crumbling to the ground.

Judge Crevan is gaining the upper hand, and time is running out for Celestine. With tensions building, Celestine must make a choice: save only herself, or risk her life to save all the Flawed. And, most important of all, can she prove that to be human in itself is to be Flawed…?

[Read my review of Flawed here.]

“A weed is just a flower growing in the wrong place.”
In Flawed, Celestine North goes from being the perfect girl to the flawed one; from a bystander to the victim. In Perfect she goes from Victim to fighter. Her character development is just wonderful. Just because she's a fighter doesn't mean she always makes the right decisions or that she's never scared. What makes her a relatable girl fighting for her beliefs is the fact that she is in fact afraid and she does make mistakes on her way. She falls down but gets back right up which is what I loved the most about her in this book.

Also her way of thinking was wonderful. For once in YA, the lead character even in times of distress doesn't make the worst impulsive decisions. Celestine did make mistakes but everytime she made a plan she also made up a backup plan in case things went wrong. The mathematical logical side of her in balance with her thoughts and emotions was interesting to read about!

Carrick was everything I wanted him to be. And I loved that we got to know more about his life in this book. He barely talks in Flawed and is this mysterious person in the background but in Perfect, he takes up half the stage. I loved the romance between Celestine and Carrick! It was realistic and so swoon worthy!! Although I did feel that it was a bit fast at parts but it's bot much of a complaint.

There was a love triangle in this book but fortunately it doesn't feel forced or unrealistic and perfectly fits with the chain of events.

I loved every single character in the book. They were all so three-dimensional and I loved how even the smallest characters had so much personality. I personally ADORED Celestine's mom in Perfect. I loved getting to know her better and seeing what a fierce person she is!

PERFECTION. There were so many twists I did not see coming. Celestine's meticulus planning and they way she tackled the problems was wonderful. There was just one thing that bothered me. Celestine did not figure out a particular something for so long! Something I guessed at the end of Flawed. It felt kind of weird to me that she never thought of it.

Also I enjoyed how the plot while being fast and exciting was also emotional and so beautiful. Getting to know little things about various character was not just crucial to the plot but also made the characters feel like real people.

And the ending! OH MY GODDD! It was the most wonderful thing ever and I was crying tears of joy! It was so beautiful and powerful that I was hugging the book and myself. It was better than I could have ever hoped and gave me a sense of happiness and completeness. Cecelia Ahern sure knows how to make a book magical!

Like I said, Ahern sure knows how to make a book magical and her words are so powerful.
"When it's yourself, you can take it; when it's happening to the people you love, it can break you."
She writes in a way that the words go right to your heart and strike a chord. I loved the descriptions and the way we got to see Celestine's thought process. Even with so many characters in the book, each persona stands out. Each person has a unique personality that shines through Ahern's words!

- Pretty much everything!

- The little plot thing I mentioned above.

Perfect is the perfect conclusion to this duology. Cecelia Ahern writes so beautifully and powerfully that It's impossible not to be sucked into the story. Both the action and the romance had me in a high and for once I found I have not complaints about how a story/series ended. read this book if you haven't already!
